What JCI Accreditation Actually Means — and How to Verify It

Joint Commission International audits more than 1,200 standards before granting its gold seal — from surgical site verification protocols to how medication orders are double-checked. What the accreditation covers

JCI surveys examine patient safety systems: infection control, anesthesia standards, staff credential verification, and — most relevant for international patients — informed consent processes in a language you understand. Accreditation is re-audited every three years, so a current certificate means a recent inspection.

What it doesn't tell you

How to verify a certificate
